SYNOPSIS

9 to 5: The Musical is built around the songs of Dolly Parton and based on the 1980's film of the same. The story focuses on Violet, Doralee and Judy, three workers at a firm managed by the sexist, lecherous and unpleasant Franklin Hart. Long-suffering Violet dreams of finally getting the promotion she deserves, newly-separated Judy is terrified about starting her first ever job and sexy Doralee can't understand why she's constantly ostracised by her female co-workers.

Initially unconnected, the women become united in their hatred for Hart after he pushes each of them to breaking point. They begin to fantasise about his death, but after the fantasy almost becomes a reality, Hart threatens to go to the police. Determined not to be at the mercy of Hart for any longer, the women imprison him in his home and take control of the firm. They begin to implement changes that benefit both their fellow workers and the company's bottom line, while searching for evidence that will take Hart down for good.

Just when it looks like Violet, Doralee and Judy's plan might succeed, Hart escapes and arrives at the office to confront them. The stage is set for the final showdown...
